This little idea sounds too good to be true but when more deeply examined we can see the sense of it. If we are a glass half empty kind of person then we only see lack. When we only see lack we can not see how to move towards our goals and our aspirations. If we are a glass half full kind of person, we can see what we have. This perspective opens our senses and allows us to notice not only what we have, but also how to move towards our goals and aspirations. Perspective and perception are inextricably connected. Our perspective impacts our perception and our perception impacts our perspective. When we buy a new car, we will tend to notice the same model car on the road or in parking lots because our new car perspective is directing and attuning our perception. This is all not to say that we should ignore places where there is lack in our lives. Ignoring or suppressing is never a good idea. It’s important to take stock of feelings of lack. Noticing and becoming aware of these experiences and feelings is only the first step though. Processing these experiences and feelings is the second step. Allowing them to come up fully, allowing all the thoughts. feelings, images and sensations to come up and release fully allows us to be more present with all of our experiences and feelings and frees us from being discouraged and limited by them. Releasing opens us up to new perspectives and perceptions that are hidden by some of what life presents. Changing our minds through letting go opens us to many more choices and possibilities in our that we otherwise wouldn’t recognize and access lives.
