Overwhelm

One of the experiences we find ourselves encountering is overwhelm. Overwhelm is when intense or extreme feelings come up and we become overstimulated and stressed by what life might bring. Overwhelm can occur as a result of so called negative experiences but it can also occur as a result of so called positive experiences as well. Overwhelm may occur when we are faced with a challenging task or several tasks at once. Overwhelm is an uncomfortable feeling and may lead to a person determining that they are not able to handle what life might bring. When we experience overwhelm, the sensations of our feelings are felt intensely and/or extremely and we haven’t learned how to be with those feelings so that the energies of those feelings and the sensations of those energies can be felt and processed in a way that feels tolerable, manageable and safe. The Sedona Method teaches us just how to do that. We learn how to notice feelings, learn how be with them so that their energies allow them to percolate up and move on through the bodymind in ways that not only feel manageable and safe but open us to having more energy in general. So many people experience fatigue and struggle with feeling like they don’t have enough energy to live their lives fully. When we learn how to be with a feeling, learn how to bring awareness to the feeling (also called mindfulness) so that we can open to it and give it as much room to do what it needs to do to be fully experienced and fully processed we find that we no longer experience overwhelm and we have much more energy to live our lives fully.
